I seem to have touched on mental health several times over the years, and also in Part 1 of this article. However, at the risk of being seen as a very boring contributor, I just want to say how the current crisis in the Middle East is extremely distressing, regardless of one’s political orientation. To envisage being part of a musical festival and having a really fun time, only to suddenly be attacked by terrorists and either murdered or having to run for one’s life and try and hide, or get away by car, or being caught and dragged off to Gaza as a hostage, is horrifying.
Seeing visuals of people being attacked in their safe rooms early on a Saturday morning in their kibbutzim and brutalized by these terrorists, I would think that anyone who reads this post would feel positively sick. By the time this is added to my blog, it could be that the situation is far worse than it is currently, with those living in Gaza trying desperately to leave. Be that as it may, the constant strife and wars in other parts of this world in which we find ourselves is enough to make one want to stop the world in order to get off!
What is it with human beings that it doesn’t take much to find the savage beneath the veneer of normality, in many instances. However, one only has to look back throughout the ages to see that, all things considered, not much has actually changed. The only difference is that there are now way too many people on this poor, abused planet of ours.
Just thinking – if one could actually stop the world in order to get off, and there just happened to be an alien mode of transport waiting nearby, wouldn’t it be worth the risk of the unknown to take the plunge, jump in and whizz away to wherever! Today, the idea is rather appealing!
